While we wait for a few additional states to fully process their registration data, we took a look at the typical state front runners to see how Q1 2021 played out for vehicle sales in those states.
Out of the top four states we looked at, Florida was the only one who came out of Q1 with YOY growth. The sunshine state pulled off a 20.8% increase in vehicle sales from Q1 2020. The top five sellers in Florida averaged about 800 more units sold this quarter compared to last year, this excludes fleet.
Although our other top sates saw a slight dip in vehicle sales last quarter, according to NADA this first quarter was "extremely strong" for the industry as a whole, with about 2 million more units sold than 2020. With three out of the four states listed here showing a YOY loss, what other states played a part in the bounce back? Ohio, Michigan and Tennessee to name a few. More data to come, but so far the auto industry seems to be making a strong come back from the pandemic-stricken previous year.
